The Art of Tea: A Guide to the Best Beverages in America

When it comes to beverages, tea is often overlooked in America. We are known for our coffee and cocktails, but tea has been gaining popularity in recent years. As a chef, I have had the opportunity to explore and taste some of the best teas in America. From traditional Earl Grey to unique blends, here are some of my top picks for the best tea beverages in America.

Starting on the East Coast, New York City is home to some of the best tea shops in the country. One of my personal favorites is Harney & Sons Fine Teas, located in SoHo. They offer a wide variety of loose leaf teas, including their signature blend, the New York Blend. It’s a perfect balance of black tea and bergamot, with a hint of vanilla. Another must-try in NYC is MatchaBar, where you can get a delicious matcha latte or even a matcha cocktail.

Heading to the West Coast, Los Angeles has its fair share of amazing tea options. One of the most unique is Chado Tea Room, where you can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea service. They have over 300 varieties of loose leaf teas to choose from, so there is something for everyone. Another standout in LA is Alfred Tea Room, known for their refreshing iced teas and Instagram-worthy pink decor.

In between the coasts, there are plenty of other cities with great tea options. In Chicago, be sure to stop by Argo Tea for their signature Bubble Tea. And in Austin, Texas, Zhi Tea offers a wide range of organic and fair trade teas.

With so many amazing tea options in America, it’s time to expand your beverage horizons and give tea a try. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.
